Whether you are an experienced ceramicist or have never touched clay before, this is your opportunity to get some invaluable time on the pottery wheel! This class is open to all skill levels. This will be a small group of eight students, so you can expect individual attention during each session so that you can hone your skills no matter your skill level.
Each class will begin with a demonstration of a different wheel throwing technique. Over the course of six weeks, we will cover the basics of wheel throwing, trimming, surface decoration, and glazing. More advanced wheel throwing techniques will be covered by request. There will be time each week for wheel throwing demonstration requests, so if you are interested in learning how to make something specific feel free to request a demo of how to make it.
Everyone is encouraged to bring ideas of personal projects to pursue, but your instructor will demonstrate different pieces that can be made on the wheel if you need some inspiration! You will learn a new technique each class but it will be your choice to incorporate it into the pieces you make. Each student will have the freedom to make whatever they want during their class time. Each class will consist of a roughly 20 minute demo followed by two and a half hours of open format, guided working time on the wheel.
